Dog Artistic Expression

Youth in the North Central Extension District are invited to participate in the second annual 4-H Dog Artistic Expression Contest. Entries are due to the Forsyth County Extension Center by May 20, 2024. Youth should:

  • be enrolled in 4-H Online (and approved) for 2024
  • Enter the 4-H Dog Artistic Expression Event in 4-H Online
  • Deliver ONE item per category (or less) with the appropriate tag and entry information
    • to the office in the Forsyth County Agriculture Building at 1450 Fairchild Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105 by the deadline OR
    • deliver them to your County Extension office by their requested deadline

Categories include:

  • crafts
  • drawing
  • painting
  • poster
  • standard photography
  • digitally enhanced photography
  • sewing
  • mixed media (new this year)

Contact your local 4-H Agent to possibly coordinate item drop-off. All items must be at the Forsyth Extension Center by the deadline, so your county deadline will be sooner. Winners will be announced at the 4-H District Activity Day at NC A&T State University on the advertised date. There are lots of prizes being handed out.

4-H Dog Show

2024 DATE TO BE DETERMINED
June 27, 2023 North Central District 4-H Dog Show, Winston-Salem, NC.
Forsyth County Agricultural Building, 1450 Fairchild Road Winston-Salem, NC 27105
10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Bring your own lunch.

Classes include:

  • obedience
  • rally
  • showmanship
  • costume

Participate in one or all four classes. There are lots of prizes! Registration is open in 4-H Online and is due by June 15.

2023 4-H Dog Showmanship Clinic

April 22, 2023 North Central District 4-H Dog Clinic, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Registration is open in 4-H Online. There will be a $10 registration fee which will include lunch.

  • Space is limited and registration does not mean that you are accepted to attend.
  • Youth may bring their dog, but must submit current vaccination records prior to attending.
  • Dogs will be screened at check-in for vet record, and dog may be refused/
    denied if it shows signs of aggression—lunging, snapping/biting, growling
    at dogs or people is grounds to refuse the dog.
  • Lunch is provided for participants only. There are plenty of food places
    nearby.
  • Recommended that participant brings their own dog’s crate. We will have a
    limited number of crates to loan.
  • Dogs should be on a 4 ft leash if possible, but no longer than 6 ft.
    Absolutely no Flexi leads.
  • Parents/others are welcome to stay and wait/watch; however, the 4-Her is
    responsible for handling the dog, pottying dog, and if necessary, cleaning
    up after dog. Youth are at the clinic to learn from the instructors, and parents are to stay in the background.
